The Regulation of
Investigatory Powers Act is a complex piece of legislation that is
proving problematic for practitioners. It is our
intention that the unit provide the following:

Advice to police forces
and other public authorities in connection with the Act

Training to these
organisations

Research of the
implications of the Act and its developments

Contribute to the debate
surrounding the Act, including making representations to government,
ACPO and other groups on reform of the Act
